I was impressed when the U.S. Department of Transportation announced it will award an $11 million grant to the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority to modernize Docks 24 and 26 West, install a new stormwater treatment system, and regrade the plank area.
More than 13 million tons of cargo move through the Cleveland harbor each year. That generates $3.5 billion in economic activity for the region.
According to local sources, this federal grant will be matched with an additional $5,900,000 in local funds.
U.S. Senator Rob Portman said, “Upgrading the infrastructure will allow the Port to continue to meet the needs of the region and its consumers.”
This is good news for Ohio!
